Maynard was born on May 29, 1921, nine miles north of Bertrand, Nebraska, in Phelps County, the third of five children, born to Manly Axel and Sigrid Adeline (Mattson) Falk. Maynard was born on May 29, 1921, nine miles north of Bertrand, Nebraska, in Phelps County, the third of five children, born to Manly Axel and Sigrid Adeline (Mattson) Falk. Maynard received his primary education from Loomis Public Schools and Wilcox Public Schools and later graduated from Wilcox High School, with the class of 1939. In 1945, Maynard attended Trinity Seminary College in Chicago, Illinois, for three years. Maynard was ordained in 1958 and then began correspondence courses from Northern Baptist Seminary in Chicago. On October 21, 1945, Maynard was united in marriage to Beulah A. Jauken at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege. The couple made their home north of Oxford, as Maynard began his ministry at the Frank Naylor Church in 1948. The couple was blessed with two daughters: Beverly and Janet. Maynard was called to Broken Bow, Nebraska, and served two churches: Cliff Union Church and the United Brethren Church, until the summer of 1950, when he began working construction and serving churches in Alma, Nebraska and Long Island, Kansas. In the fall of 1950, the family moved to Danbury, Wisconsin, serving the Evangelical Free Church. From 1952 to 1955, Maynard served the American Sunday School Union in Blue Hill, Nebraska, and also the Prosser Methodist Church of Prosser, Nebraska. In 1955, Maynard took a call and began serving the Glenvil Baptist Church in Glenvil, Nebraska, for four years, and then from 1959 to 1961, served the Obert Baptist Church in Obert, Nebraska. From 1961 to 1967, he served the Riverside American Baptist Church in Tekamah, Nebraska, and then the American Baptist Church in Rolla, Kansas from 1967 to 1974. In 1974, Maynard served the Antioch Baptist Church of Ada, Kansas for nine years. The couple served the First Baptist Church of Norton, Kansas from 1985 to 1991, when Maynard retired in December of 1991. In his free time, Maynard enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, Dominos, Aggravation, and softball, stock car racing, and helping with church summer camps. Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beulah Falk in 2004; brothers: Rev. Orville Falk and his wife, Ruth; Carroll Falk and his wife, Leona; Rev. Dale Falk; and Rev. Robert Falk; two nephews: Melvin Falk and Harry Falk; along with Beulah's brothers and sisters. Maynard is survived by his two daughters: Beverly Rowland and her husband, David of Okoboji, Iowa; and Janet Watson and her husband, George of Mansfield, Massachusetts; six grandchildren: Kristin Haberman and her husband, Patrick of Owatonna, Minnesota; Kimberly Lusk and her husband, Chris of Manhattan Beach, California; Mindy Rowland and husband, Brad Fulton of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; David J. Rowland of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Marcus Watson and his wife, Shannon of Lakeville, Minnesota; and Michael Watson and his wife, Jessie of North Andover, Massachusetts; fourteen great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Doris Falk of Sun City, Arizona; Glaura Falk of Council Bluffs, Iowa; LaJean Jauken of Holdrege; and Anita Jauken of Lacey, Washington; along with many extended family and friends.
