He was born in a farm house north of Loomis, Nebraska, on November 29, 1926, fifth and last son of Sigrid Mattson Falk and Manly Axel Falk. He attended various country schools, but finished his H.S. Studies in Wilcox, Nebraska HS in 1944. Then he followed his brother Maynard to the Free Church Seminary in Chicago and finished a three-year Theology course there. After that he enrolled in Rockmont College in Denver, and went home to Nebraska for the summer to work for his uncle Paul and serve as pastor of and ASU church in Kansas. As pastor in August of 1948 he attended the ASU youth camp in Lexington, NE where he met Doris Aten, a student from BIOLA acting as summer counselor. They found they both believed in Jesus as Savior and Lord, and wanted to serve Him. They were married in the EFC in Holdrege, NE in 1949 and moved to Denver where Bob finished his BA at Rockmont on his BB scholarship. He enjoyed working with the EFCM as ass't pastor in Denver then as a missionary to the Congo for 23 years. His first year overseas in 1953 was a year of study in the Belgian Colonial School in Brussels to study French. During that year God blessed them with five-year-old Noel Douglas, the oldest child in a Belgian Orphanage, who went with them to Congo and they finished his adoption process during their next furlough with the help of Doris's cousin Wilbur Aten, atty in Holdrege, NE. Then in 1957 dear Linda Jo completed the family when they found her in Chicago. After teaching French and Bible in the Congo for ten years, the family moved to NW Iowa for Noel's High School. Bob served as pastor, first in Marathon, then in Sioux City while Noel served in Viet Nam as an Army Ranger. In 1971 Bob returned to the Congo to teach with Doris in the Tandala Bible School under Dir. Penze Jacob for four years. Later while their daughter was attending Trinity College in Chicago, he served as pastor, first in the EFC of Sterling, CO, then followed his brother Orville to Kansas, serving as pastor of the Community Baptist Church east of Wichita, KS. Then in 1980 when he was begged to return to work in the Congo again. Once back in the Congo Church President Mopepe asked him to move to the city of Gemena to be his helper. However, in 1982 he was hemmorraging badly and returned asap to the Fairview Southdale Hospital in MN to remove his 5 fast-growing malignant tumors. Upon advice to remove the whole bladder, he survived 38 years as a urostomate! But he returned six months after that surgery to take up his work in Gemena as a miracle man. He and Doris were blessed to work with then Church Pres. Gwana in planting a new downtown church, first as a house-church and building TEV—The Evangelical Temple. Though built to seat 910, they often seat 2,000. The first baptismal service was held in 1985 when the foundation was completed, but on total completion in 1991 the Falks were able to return for the dedication. After ten years working as a volunteer chaplain in Chicago in Cook Co Hosp. & UICMC, he moved to AZ with Doris to do the same for 13 years in the Del Webb Hosp. & Peoria Hospice of the Valley, as well as preaching much of the time in retirement centers like Casa del Rio in Peoria. They moved to Holdrege, then Lincoln, NE for two years before returning to AZ and fellowship-ping with the New Hope Fellowship EFC, which they had helped found, until his passing back to his wonderful Lord Jesus Christ in July of 2020. Bob is preceded in death by his dear son Noel (d. 2011), but survived by his beloved wife Doris Falk and their dear, favorite daughter—Linda Jo Falk.
