Description	:	Second son of Capt. John Viets, Sr. and Lois (Phelps) Viets. He graduated from Yale College with an A.B. degree in 1758. Roger was ordained as an Episcopalian Reverend on April 17, 1763, in the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace in London, England. After returning to the colonies on June 26, 1763, he served as reverend for 24 plus years at St. Andrew's parish in Simsbury, CT. On Nov 19, 1772, he married Hester Botsford of New Milford, CT. The Viets family moved to Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada, arriving on June 12, 1787. There, Roger was a popular missionary and Reverend. In 1791 he and his parishioners built Trinity Church in Digby, Nova Scotia. He died in 1811 probably of pneumonia and was, at his request, buried in an unmarked grave outside the east window of the church. He was succeeded at Trinity by his son Roger Moore Viets.
