Description	:	Wilfred A. "Will" Wietzke of York was called peacefully home to heaven on September 27, 2011. Will was born on December 21, 1923 in Shickley to Pastor William and Almina (Everts) Wietzke. Will grew up in Shickley and Montrose, Colo. and graduated from Montrose High School in 1941. After two years of college he was drafted into the United States Army and served faithfully from 1943 until 1946, including 17 months in Italy. Will graduated from Northwestern College in Watertown, Wis. in 1948 and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1951. He taught at Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, S.D. from 1951 to 1953. Will... Read More	Wilfred A. "Will" Wietzke of York was called peacefully home to heaven on September 27, 2011. Will was born on December 21, 1923 in Shickley to Pastor William and Almina (Everts) Wietzke. Will grew up in Shickley and Montrose, Colo. and graduated from Montrose High School in 1941. After two years of college he was drafted into the United States Army and served faithfully from 1943 until 1946, including 17 months in Italy. Will graduated from Northwestern College in Watertown, Wis. in 1948 and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1951. He taught at Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, S.D. from 1951 to 1953. Will served as pastor of Grace Lutheran, Oskaloosa, Iowa from 1953 to 1977 and Christ Lutheran, Beatrice, from 1977 to 1987. On November 5, 1969, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Rupprecht. The Lord blessed this couple with more than 41 years of married life and enriched their lives with two sons. After his retirement from the ministry Will and his family moved to York, where he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Will was very active in sports, especially basketball and softball. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Will is survived by his wife, Charlotte of York; sons Tom (Julie) Wietzke of West Allis, Wis. and David (Mary) Wietzke of Grand Island; grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Adam and Joanna Wietzke and a host of relatives and friends. Will was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery, Grafton, Ne. Published: Thursday, September 29, 2011 York New Times
