Description	:	William Henry Harrison Pillsbury was born 14 July 1840, in York County, Maine, the son of Tobias and Susan Pillsbury; the couple had at least nine children. In 1850 and 1860, William was living on a farm in Shapleigh, York, Maine with his parents and siblings. In 1861, he was attending Maine Wesleyan Seminary. Read More	William Henry Harrison Pillsbury was born 14 July 1840, in York County, Maine, the son of Tobias and Susan Pillsbury; the couple had at least nine children. In 1850 and 1860, William was living on a farm in Shapleigh, York, Maine with his parents and siblings. In 1861, he was attending Maine Wesleyan Seminary. His student days were interrupted by the Civil War, and he enlisted in Company I, Maine 17th Infantry Regiment, on 18 August 1862; he was mustered out on 26 December 1863. During his service, the 17th Maine participated in some of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War: Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. After leaving the 17th Maine, William attended and graduated from the Boston University School of Theology. In 1867, he attended the Methodist General Bible Institute in New Hampshire. In 1868, Reverend Pillsbury was assigned to the Second Methodist-Episcopal Church in Kittery, Maine. He was married on 3 August 1871 to Elizabeth Crabtree Bowers (1842-1918) and the couple had at least seven children. The couple relocated to Iowa in the early 1870‘s, where William continued his career as a clergyman at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and later at Wapello, Ottumwa, Iowa. The family relocated to Nebraska no later than 1890, and in 1895, he was a reverend and city treasurer in Fullerton, Nebraska. William H.H. Pillsbury passed away on 28 December 1895. Dr. Pillsbury of Fullerton died Saturday week of gangrene, resulting from a toe afflicted by a corn, and which was amputated, but blood poisoning setting in, the result proved fatal. Mr. Pillsbury had been elected county treasurer, but even already there has been quite a squabble for the place. It seems that Dr. Pillsbury's death was due to an accident, his left foot being trampled on by a horse. The foot was only slightly bruised, but several days later began to pain him.
