He was born May 23, 1964 in Holton, the son of Robert W. and Marjorie F. (Schmitt) Hamlin. He graduated from Holton High School in 1982 and had lived in Holton his entire life. Rex was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert and Marjorie; his beloved step-mother, Doris (Purcell) Dibbern (who had raised him since he was 9 years old): his step-father, Loren “Pappy” Dibbern and a half-brother, Larry E. Proctor. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Larkinburg Cemetery. Rex will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Saturday afternoon, December 19, 2020 through Monday evening until 6:00 p.m. each day. Memorials are suggested to Holton Fire Department c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, 66436.
