A message was received by Mr. and Mrs. William Findling, from their son Allan, who is in Louisiana, saying that he would reach here Tuesday afternoon. The death of Rex Findling is a severe shock to the family and it was also a shock to his Tipton school mates and his teacher who were with him. He went over with Prof H.L. Thompson and six other high school students, John Burkhardt, Harrison Smitson, Edwin Parkhurst, Russell Lowry, Gerald Todd and Orville Reynolds. they went over Friday and Rex roomed with Gerald Todd with a private family, as the citizens of Marion had agreed to take care of the boys in this meeting arranged by the state Y.M.C.A. Sunday, while in Sunday school at the library, Rex complained of feeling ill and he left the room for a few minutes. When he returned he became worse and was taken into a small room where he could lie on a cot. His condition soon became worse and two physicians who were in the audience realized that alarming symptoms had developed. Gerald Todd said his roommate had not complained of feeling ill at any time previous to Sunday morning. While Rex was very ill he was not unconscious until probably ten minutes before his death. He talked freely and he said that he had had several severe attacks of heart troubles of which, his parents knew nothing about as he did not want to cause them added worry. He died in his mother's arms at the hospital.
