Description	:	Lifelong resident of Skagit Valley passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday night September 26th, 2010 with his family by his side. Born August 17, 1921 to Rex and Ethel Houser Sr. in Bow, Washington, he was the 5th of 13 children. He attended the Bow school and graduated from Edison High and after high school he worked at Bornsteine-Houser fish Company in Bellingham. Read More	Lifelong resident of Skagit Valley passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday night September 26th, 2010 with his family by his side. Born August 17, 1921 to Rex and Ethel Houser Sr. in Bow, Washington, he was the 5th of 13 children. He attended the Bow school and graduated from Edison High and after high school he worked at Bornsteine-Houser fish Company in Bellingham. He then served in the U.S. Army for two campaigns as a communication officer in the South Pacific in WWII. When he returned home he married Betty R. Bentz in June 1946 and went back to work at Bornsteine-Houser Fish Company until he started at Shell Oil Company as an operator in C zone, working there till he retired at age 62. Rex was most proud of his family, daughter, Linda (Rexene), grandson, Michael Houser and his wife, Marilyn. He enjoyed and loved the outdoors- hunting and fishing with great friends, working in his garden, cutting wood and working on his property. Rex is survived by wife Betty Jr., of 64 years, who he adored; his daughter, Linda (Rexene); grandson, Michael Houser and his wife, Marilyn; his brother, Ray; sisters, Olive and Betty Lou; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 2:00 pm at Kern Funeral Home, with a coffee hour to follow in Kern's social room. Arrangements are under the care of Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made to your favorite cancer care charity.
