Orangeville Sun, July 7, 1898, - Glencross - United in Death We are again called upon to record a very sad event, it being the death of Mr. Richard Allen of the 6th line. Only a few weeks ago his wife was taken from his side by the messenger, Death, and three days later his infant son was gathered home and last Thursday night at 12 o'clock Mr. Allen's spirit fled to join the ones from whom death had separated him but a short time. The deceased was a son of Mr. Thomas Allen of the 4th line, Mono, and was just in the bloom of life, being only 32 years of age. The two little children, a girl 2 years old and a boy 5 years old are now left to battle the cares of this world without a mother's or father's aid. To these two little ones who were so suddenly bereft of their parents is extended the sympathy of the whole community. They are both down with the diphtheria and although very bad their recovery is looked for. The remains of poor Richard Allen were laid to rest beside those of his wife in Mitchell's cemetery on Saturday afternoon. Over the graves of our friends whose separation was so short do we drop the tear of tender regret.
