Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Oyens, Iowa with Father Tim Hogan officiating. Interment will follow at. St. Catherine's Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29th at the church until service time. Memorials can be directed to Hospice of Siouxland. Richard Andrew Cronin was born March 3, 1957 in Le Mars, Iowa to Robert and Paula (Kunkel) Cronin. Rick attended school in Oyens and later graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1975. Following high school, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln studying German. He later returned to school taking classes in Information Technology. Rick worked as a computer programmer for an insurance company in Lincoln and later in the mid 1980's he moved to the Baltimore, Maryland area and continued working as a programmer in the insurance industry. He had also lived in Spokane and Minneapolis working as a programmer. In 2009, Rick returned to Iowa living in Sioux City. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He also enjoyed the theatre, reading, collecting antiques; and especially enjoyed family events. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Paula Cronin of Oyens; four siblings: Dave Cronin and his wife Karen of Lincoln, NE and their children Nate Cronin and his wife Suzie, Katelan Haden and her husband Dan and daughter Monica, and Tyler Cronin; Kathy Kruger of Le Mars; Dan Cronin and his wife Cheryl of Le Mars and their children Keith and Kari Cronin; and Steve Cronin and his wife Paula of Le Mars and their children Cassie Madsen and son Kolby, Meggan Cronin and Amanda Cronin; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Tyler Cronin, Nate Cronin, Keith Cronin, Tom Thorpe, Doug Thorpe, and Dan Haden.
