The son of Floyd Lazelle and Zella Jewel (Beeler), he was born March 23, 1934 in Lancaster, Missouri. On June 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Glenice McCullough and to this union 6 children were born, Mikel Dean, Olin Dannel, Lisa Jo, Jean Ann, Lori Lynn and Martin Eric. On April 18, 1987, Bud was united in marriage to Evangeline Pertierra in the Philippines. Preceding Bud in death were his parents; one brother, Donnie Roberts and one infant granddaughter, Valerie Renee Roberts. Surviving are his wife, Evangeline Roberts of Lancaster, Missouri; his six children: Mikel Dean Roberts and wife Connie of Lancaster, Missouri, Olin Dannel Roberts and wife Martha of Jefferson City, Missouri, Lisa Jo Roberts of Waynesboro, Virginia, Jean Ann Nelson and husband, Jeff of Moberly, Missouri, Lori Lynn Mullinix and husband Faron of Downing, Missouri and Martin Eric Roberts and wife Monica of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 14 Grandchildren: Jacob Odell Roberts, Katy Nicole Roberts, Jacqueline Lee Roberts, Jessica Lynn Roberts, Jilli Ann Roberts, Caleb Augustus Roberts, Elijah Ray Roberts, Abigail Lynn Cawiezell, Chloe Ann Cawiezell, Todd Jeffrey Nelson, Jill Renee Nelson, Andrea Jo Mullinix, Taylor DeWayne Mullinix and Zachary Ty Roberts; 2 Sisters: Mrs. Earl (Roberta) Kapfer of Baring, Missouri and Mrs. Basil (Pat) Hunt of St. Louis, Missouri; 1 Brother: Gary Roberts and wife Bernadine of Lancaster, Missouri. Bud was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church; a graduate of the Lancaster High School and also served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bud served as a State Auditor for 11 years and then was appointed as postmaster for the Lancaster Post Office, a position he held for 28 years. When retiring from that position, he continued with his farming. Bud will be well remembered for the many hours spent helping with the baseball association which he loved so much. He also had a great passion for racing which he enjoyed attending as often as possible. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Robert Beeler officiating. Music will be provided by pianist, Maureen Watkins and soloist, Connie Roberts. Special selections will be "In The Garden", "Amazing Grace" and "I Did It My Way". Pallbearers will be Paul Welsh, Wayne Groseclose, Al Ashmead, Jack Erwin, Bill Fremon and Scott Whitworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Fremon, Diana Swedberg Nelson and Melissa Finley. Military rites will be held at Bosco's Gun Club in Lancaster, Missouri by the Schuyler County VFW. A private burial will be held for family members only at the Roberts Cemetery, north of Lancaster, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at the Norman Funeral Home between the hours of 6-8 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Lancaster Little League Association.
