Description	:	Son of Richard D. McMillan, Sr. and Nellibee (Baker) McMillan. His father was a pharmacist and his mother was a teacher. His family moved to Ogallala, NE around 1945. His father was a pharmacist and his mother was a teacher. His family moved to Ogallala, NE around 1945. When they first moved to town, they lived in a house up on a hill, now known as "The Mansion on the Hill". He graduated from Ogallala High School and attended one year of college at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he met the love of his life, Mary A. McCrory. They wed in 1951, and made their home in Paxton, Nebraska. They had two daughters, Ann and Jo, and moved to Ogallala in 1969. Dick went to work for Sixth Street Food Stores in Ogallala as a Meat Cutter and Manager for many years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Lion's club. Dick was hard of hearing and began wearing a hearing aid when he was in his early 30's. His hearing declined to the point where he was almost completely deaf. However, he was an excellent lip-reader. In 2001 he had a cochlear implant and that opened up a whole new world for him. He could hear sounds he hadn't heard in years and was even able to talk on the regular telephone. He was asked to serve on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission for the state of Nebraska and brought information to western Nebraska for several years. He enjoyed visiting with people. He never knew a stranger. He was fiercely independent and enjoyed traveling to visit his two daughters and their families. He remained in good health until the last few years of his life. He died of complications related to Alzheimer's disease. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Nellibee and Richard McMillan, his brother Bob, an infant sister, his wife Mary and his brother-in-law, Vern McCrory. He is succeeded in death by his daughter Ann Rule (husband Jack) of Newark, DE, granddaughter Kelly Stansbury (Lewis), great grandchildren Nathan and Novella Stansbury, Ridley Park, PA, grandson Kevin Rule, of Newark, DE, grandson Christopher Rule (Jennifer) of Folcroft, PA, granddaughter Caroline Hoover (Kevin), great-grandchildren Nolan and Miles Hoover of Richmond, VA , his daughter Jo Hartsock (husband Steve) and grandson Tommy Hartsock of Burr, NE
