HOFFERBER, RICHARD DEAN—Richard Dean Hofferber, youngest son of William and Helen Hofferber, was born August 7, 1939, at his parent’s home near Fairmont, Neb. He passed away at 12:35 p. m. July 8, 1960, at the Veteran’s hospital at Lincoln following a lengthy illness. Richard attended rural school and was graduated from Geneva high school in 1936. Following his graduation, he attended Lincoln School of Commerce and was a pre-law student at the University of Nebraska for two year. He entered the Air Force on August 27, 1959, and received his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He became seriously ill in November while he was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. He was transferred back to Lackland Air Force hospital where he had an operation for a brain tumor, from which he never recovered. He had been in the Veterans hospital in Lincoln since January. Richard is survived by his mother and father; one sister, Mrs. William Eich, a brother, Donald, three nieces, two nephews, grandmother, Mrs. George Mason; fiancée Linda Schelibitzki, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home Sunday afternoon, July 10, 1960, with Rev. Paul Ulenberg in charge. Ralph Reemts was soloist with Mrs. Willard H. Foster his accompanist. The selections were “Beyond the Sunset” and “Ivory Palaces.” Burial was in the Geneva cemetery with Kenneth Barnell, Robert Crawford, Robert Hamilton, James Hoarty, Lynn Koehler and Donn McCashland serving as pallbearers. Relatives and friends from Colorado, Lexington, Minden, Beatrice, Lincoln, Shickley, Ohiowa, Exeter, Fairmont, Grafton and Geneva attended the services. The Nebraska Signal 14 July 1960
