Read More	HOFFERBER, DONALD WILLIAM—Donald William Hofferber was born to William Hofferber and Helen Mason Hofferber on December 9, 1932, on the family farm northwest of Geneva. He passed away July 15, 1995, at his home at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 6 days. He was one of three children in the family. Don was baptized and became a member of the United Methodist Church in Geneva. He attended District # 81 country school through the eighth grade, and graduated from Geneva High School in 1949. Don was married to Lillie Ann Horst of Oak, on June 15, 1952 at St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Ruskin, and to them two children were born, Thomas William and Patricia Marie. Upon graduation, Don continued farming with his father. After his marriage to Lil, they set up residence north of the family farm where he continued to farm and feed cattle. In 1974 his son, Tom joined the farming and cattle feeding partnership. In 1977, Don and Lil moved into their new home south of the home place. In 1992, Don semi-retired, but continued feeding cattle. Don was a member of the Elks club, IOOF, Nebraska Cattlemen and the Lion’s club of which he was an active member and past president. Don was elected County Supervisor in 1972, while in office, he enjoyed working with his colleagues and other country employees dealing with various county issues. He held this office until his death. Don took great pride in his home, family, farming and feeding cattle, especially getting a pen of cattle ready for market. He acquired many friends buying cattle in the Sandhills and elsewhere throughout the years. He was a long time fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and a member of the Nebraska Beef Club. Don and Lil not only enjoyed traveling to the football and basketball games with their friends in the motorhome, but also the many other trips they took as well. Don took up golf a few years ago and truly enjoyed the sport, along with being with his friends for a good card game. He enjoyed life to the fullest and his presence was known to everyone around him. He never gave up in the last months of his illness. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Helen, and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Ann; son, Thomas and wife Melinda; daughter, Patricia Andrews and husband Brett; three granddaughters, Lisa Hofferber, Heather and Keela Andrews; and sister, Dorothy Eich and husband Bill; and many relatives and friends. Don was a loving and thoughtful husband, father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed the times he spent with his granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Tuesday, July 18, 1995 with the Rev. Charles Leypoldt officiating. Mrs. Sue Kleinschmidt accompanied Kelly Eich who sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art”. The Congregation sang “Hymn of Promise.” Those serving as pallbearers were Larry Cerny, Dale Due, George Young, Richard Mueller, Stephen Seward and William Timmermans. Honorary pallbearers were James Monahan, Dennis Devine, Dick Schoenholz, Tom Biegert and Dick Nelson. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal July 26th, 1995 page 9.
