Description	:	Richard Pogue - STROMSBERG, Neb. Richard D. Pogue, age 81, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away October 31, 2008, at the VA Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Visitation was Friday, November 7, at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg, Nebraska. Inurnment, with a private family service, and military honors by the Stromsburg American Legion Post #132, was in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Gresham, Nebraska. A remembrance and celebration of life was held in the evening. Dick was born August 27, 1927, to James Edwin and Laura Irene (Sisty) Pogue in Gresham, Nebraska. He attended schools in Gresham and Stromsburg and spent most of his adult life in Stromsburg. He worked at Overland Sand and Gravel and later operated Pogue Construction with his son, Jim. He served in the U.S. Army following World War II. Dick was a member of American Legion Post #132, York Elks Club and past member of the Masonic Lodge. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family and at the Pogue cabin on the Platte River. He had a great love of the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, restoring windmills and playing cards. Survivors include loving companion, Nadine, and her family; his three children, daughter, Linda (Bill) Barnett, of Lincoln, Nebraska, son Jim (Luana) Pogue, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, and daughter, Peggy (Dennis) Vonderfecht, of Jonesborough, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves his beloved dogs, Benji and Buster. Memorials are suggested to The Niswonger Children's Hospital, Mountain States Foundation, 2335 Knob Creek Road, Suite 101, Johnson City, Tennessee 37604.
