Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Richard was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Bismarck, the son of Clarence and Esther (Hochhalter) Hausauer. He was raised and educated in Regan where he graduated from Regan High School. Dick married Beverly Backman on Sept. 22, 1968, at Sunne Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm near Regan where they raised their three children. In 1998, Dick and Bev moved to Wilton. Dick was on the board of directors for BEK Communications for 32 years. He served on the Wing School Board, North Dakota Association of Telephone Cooperatives, Sunne Lutheran Church Council, Canfield Township Board, and was a member of the Wilton Lions. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, was a pilot and loved flying and rebuilding planes. He owned several planes over the years and worked in the past as an aircraft mechanic. One of Dick's greatest joys in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, they were his pride and joy. Dick started farming at age 17, and retired from farming after 42 years in 2006. He continued to help his brother-in-law and nephew (Wayne and Matt Backman) farm after his retirement. Dick is survived by his wife, Beverly, Wilton; his children, Kent (Christy) Hausauer, Bismarck, Kerby (Danette) Hausauer, Bismarck, and Kristine (Bob Jr.) Ell, Wilton; his grandchildren, Alex, Hope, Brittany, Justin, Brady, Caitlyn and Shelby; his mother, Esther Hausauer; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Pam Backman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hausauer; his brothers, Don and Jim; his sister, Helen Schwarz; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willard and Mary Backman.
