SANDUSKY — Richard F. Palmer, age 91, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at the Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky.
He was born August 9, 1923, in Ashtabula, to Louis F. Palmer and Mae Ola (Smith) Palmer.
He and his wife, the late Kathryn (Hall) Palmer had six children, Susan Burgos of Fresno, Calif., Wendy Richmond of Willoughby, Cyndi Iacobucci of Parma, Doug Palmer of Riverside, Calif., the late Linda Dunne of San Jose, Calif. and Lynn Palmer of Johnson City, Tenn.

SANDUSKY — Richard F. Palmer, age 91, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at the Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky.
He was born August 9, 1923, in Ashtabula, to Louis F. Palmer and Mae Ola (Smith) Palmer.
He and his wife, the late Kathryn (Hall) Palmer had six children, Susan Burgos of Fresno, Calif., Wendy Richmond of Willoughby, Cyndi Iacobucci of Parma, Doug Palmer of Riverside, Calif., the late Linda Dunne of San Jose, Calif. and Lynn Palmer of Johnson City, Tenn.
He is survived by two brothers, Harry Prine Jr. of Jefferson and Herbert Delanor Prine of Ashtabula. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Palmer, Robert Palmer and Charles Prine; and by sisters, Eleanor (Prine) Richardson, Leola (Palmer) Clark and Ella Jean Palmer.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the 3rd Army, 26th Infantry (Yankee Division) in WWII, having fought throughout France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes (the Battle of the Bulge), and Central Europe.
He was a bricklayer/mason and a member of the International Bricklayers and Trowel Trades Union Local 42 for over 40 years, and a skilled craftsman. He loved to travel and was always interested in cars and airplanes. He grew up on the South Ridge, attended Edgewood High School and lived in southern Ashtabula County until his retirement, when he relocated to Florida. He was a member of the VFW Post 1500 in Willoughby, and visited Washington D.C. on an Honor Flight for WWII veterans this past summer.
A Graveside Service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27th, at GreenlawnMemoryGardens in North Kingsville. A gathering will follow the Service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Ohio Veteran’s Home Resident’s Needs Fund at the Ohio Veterans Home, 2316 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

JEFFERSON — Charles J. Prine, age 73, of Clay St., Jefferson, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2009, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.Born June 1, 1936, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Harry C. and Mae O. (Smith) Prine and had been a life-long resident of this area. He was a graduate of Edgewood High School and married Alvira M. Wilcox on March 9, 1953, in W. Springfield, Pa.He was a painter for 45 years with Painter's Local #1103 in Painesville, retiring in 1999. Mr. Prine was a member of the First Baptist Church, Relief Lodge #284, F. and A. M., 32nd Degree Mason and lifetime member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland.He enjoyed driving stock cars, NASCAR racing, car shows, fishing, traveling and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Alvira M. "Willie" Prine; five children, Timothy (Becky) Prine of Elkhart, Ind., James (Marie) Prine of Tucson, Ariz., Jack (Yvonne) Prine of Geneva, Christine (Chris) Pestello of Madison and Charles (Michelle) Prine II of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Leola Clark; and four brothers, Richard and Robert Palmer and Harry and Del Prine.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard and Robert Prine and Paul Palmer; and four sisters, Ruby Cook, Ruth Hietikko, Rita Stone and Ella Jean Palmer.Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 3rd, at the First Baptist Church, 85 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Jerry Bentley, officiating. Relief Lodge #284 will conduct a Masonic Service at 4 p.m., with the Memorial Service immediately following.
