He was twice married. First to MISS MARY OTTO, April 6, 1873; to them were born three children, only one of whom is now living. His first wife died May 8, 1890. He was again married to MISS EMMA ELDORA ROSS, May 9, 1891. To this union were born five children. All are living. He has been a constant sufferer for more than two years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and as he often said to his wife, he was dying triumphant in the faith. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church, Grand River, and was conducted by Rev. W.R. Cox, of Decatur City, Iowa. [Interment was made at Oak Hill Cemetery, Rural Grand River, Iowa.] 04 Oct 1906 The Leon Reporter Newspaper [Chronicling America Library of Congress] Richard Hewlett died at the Creston hospital last week and his remains were brought here for burial in the Oak Hill cemetery. He leaves a wife and five children, mother and brothers and a host of friends to mourn his untimely end.
