Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Richard Henry Rempe, one of six children, was born to Frank and Theresa Buescher Rempe on a farm near Lawrence Jan. 17, 1912. He attended school, at St. Stephen's Parochial School in Lawrence. Rempe was a member of the Catholic Church all of his life, being baptized and confirmed in the St. Stephen's Church in Lawrence and later a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence. Then he transferred his membership to the St. Joseph. Catholic Church, Superior, where he had been a member for the past 33 years. He had been employed by Missouri-Pacific Railroad in Lawrence and Superior. In 1958 he retired from the railroad. After his retirement from the railroad he became a partner in the grocery business of Corner Grocery and 10th Street Superette until 1979. July 10, 1934, he was united in marriage to Hilda Ostdiek at St. Stephen's Church, Lawrence. This union was blessed with six children, Geraldine, Richard J., Luella, Melvin, Rosemary and Vernon. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, No. 3101, and a charter member of Council No. 7714, Knights of Columbus, both of Superior. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Brother Arthur (Jouh) Rempe O.F.M., Linus Rempe and Norbert Rempe. Survivors are his wife, Hilda; sons, Richard J. of Superior, Father Melvin Rempe of Omaha and Vernon Rempe of Grand Island; daughters, Mrs. Maurice Kroening (Geraldine) of Derby, Kan., Sister Richardine(Luella) Rempe, S.S.N.D., of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Mrs. Daniel Martin (Rosemary) of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Sister Hubertine (Sadie) Rempe, Franciscan, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Dora Ostdiek of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
