Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Richard J. "Bud" Gallentine was born on Saturday; March 29, 1924, in Washington Township; Marshall County, Iowa. He was the son of Elmer and Inez V. (Teeter) Gallentine. In 1925 he and his family moved to a farm immediately south of Green Mountain; Marshall County, Iowa. He attended the Green Mountain school graduating in 1941, and then farmed with his father. Bud married Helen Rae Robinson February 19, 1944, at the Methodist parsonage in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. He was a World War II veteran, inducted into the army July 18, 1944, at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. He served in Co. A, 346th Regiment, 87th Infantry Division, 3rd Army and was in campaigns at Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was discharged as a Sergeant Major on June 25, 1946, at Camp Atterbury, IN. After moving to Conrad in 1958 he was a member of the city council for 4 years. He also served on the following boards: Conrad Public Library - 20 years; First State Bank - 30 years; cemetery board - 25 years; draft board - 25 years; and the Conrad city park board. He was a member of Conrad American Legion Post 681 and 40&8. Bud was a 50 year member of both the Marshall Lodge 108 and the Marshalltown York Rite Bodies. He was a Thrity Second Degree Mason with the Des Moines Scottish Rite. He was with the Za Ga Zig Shrine for 50 years and was a member of Court 46, Royal Order of Jesters. Richard J. "Bud" Gallentine, age 85, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad; Grundy County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His two sons; Richard W."Tiny" (Jane M.) Gallentine of Conrad and Jon (Jane S.) Gallentine of Conrad; three grandchildren: Jeremy (Jennifer) Gallentine of Conrad, Amanda (Brian) Roberts of Port Richey, FL, Molly Gallentine, of New York, NY: four great grandchildren: Tristen, Noah, Carter, and Klayre Galletine, two sisters; Mrs. Ruth Davis of Omaha, NE and Mrs. Pat Rassmussen of Marshalltown, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen. May they rest in peace. A private family graveside will precede the funeral service. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 29, 2010, at the Conrad United Methodist Church in Conrad. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m.,Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Johnston Funeral Home is Conrad. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Conrad Public Library Foundation and the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital.
