Description	:	Richard "Dick" J. Sage, age 66 of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006 at his residence. Richard James Sage, the son of Fred and Marcella (Jacobs) Sage was born on March 18, 1940 in Pierre, South Dakota. He and his family moved to Watertown when he was a young child. Richard James Sage, the son of Fred and Marcella (Jacobs) Sage was born on March 18, 1940 in Pierre, South Dakota. He and his family moved to Watertown when he was a young child. He attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1958. He attended SD School of Mines and Technology and SDSU prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force. From 1961 until 1965 he served in the US Air Force in Ellsworth AFB, SD, Galena, Alaska and Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan. After he was honorably discharged from the service, he was a co-owner with his parents in the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store and became the sole owner in 1979. In 1988 he closed the store and went to work for Benchmark Foam retiring in 2005. He married Patricia Fleming on April 28, 1962 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Redfield, SD. He was a lifetime member of the Elk's Club and served on House Committee and Trustees. He was elected Secretary and Treasurer and served several terms. In 1989 he was installed as Exalted Ruler. He was District Deputy East in 2001 and State President in 2005 and was a member of three state champion ritual teams. Richard was president of the Jaycees in 1969, served as president for Kiwanis and was appointed to the first board of the Watertown Housing Authority and served from 1972 until 1988. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and was one of the first lay lectors and eucharistic ministers Richard enjoyed hunting, tinkering, gardening, traveling and his Elks activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Monica. He is survived by his wife, Pat; his four children, Michele A. Sage of Brookings, SD, Michael J. (Christy) Sage of Navarre, FL, Marnell C. (Dennis) Holm of Wahoo, NE, Gregory R. (Hyung) Sage of Severn, MD; his brother Robert E. (Jackie) Sage of Pierre, SD; six grandchildren; and a special son and foreign exchange student, Mauricio Rivas, of San Jose, Costa Rica. Interment will be in St.Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.
