Description	:	Richard K. Shepherd was born in Nova Scotia February 2, 1844, and died at West Liberty, IA, August 19, 1917. With his parents he moved to Ohio in 1858. In 1862 he enlisted in the union army, with which he served three years, when he was honorably discharged because of wounds received at Kenesaw mountain. He was married to Amanda Ball February 20, 1866. To this union were born two children, William Shepherd of Tipton and Mrs. Walter Smith of West Liberty. He was married to Amanda Ball February 20, 1866. To this union were born two children, William Shepherd of Tipton and Mrs. Walter Smith of West Liberty. They came to Iowa in 1870, settling on a farm in Cedar County. In 1899 they moved to Tipton, where they continued to reside until the death of Mrs. Shepherd January 9, 1915. From that time Mr. Shepherd made his home with his daughter until his decease. He leaves to mourn his loss the two children mentioned, a brother, George H. of Painesville, O; one sister, Mrs. Mary Lapham of Conneant, O. Mr. Shepherd was highly esteemed as a citizen and soldier, and will be greatly missed by friends and comrades. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Tipton on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. W.E. Van Buren officiating. Interment was made in the Masonic cemetery.
