Description	:	Richard “Dick” Eckert, 81, Minot, formerly of Stanley, passed away February 17th at Trinity Nursing Home in Minot. His funeral service will be Monday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Homes Chapel. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Lake View Cemetery, Kenmare. Visitation is Sunday, February 21 from noon to 3 p.m. in Springan Funeral Home, Stanley. A family prayer service will be Sunday at 5 p.m. at Trinity Homes Chapel. Dick was born to Tracy and Dorothy Eckert on July 17, 1934 in Powers Lake, ND. He was raised on the family farmstead and graduated from Coteau High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Lois Stahlberg on August 3, 1957. They were blessed with 4 loving children. He began raising grain, cattle and sheep on the family farm all while working for Great Northern Railroad. Dick retired from BNSF in 1994 and shortly after he began managing the Stanley Golf Club. He loved making golf clubs, helping young and old fall in love with the game, and took great pride in bringing beauty to the golf course. Dick and Lois moved to Stanley in 2001, then to Minot in 2009 to be close to family. Dick and Lois enjoyed square dancing and traveling to many different communities to make new friends. A new passion of going to garage sales and thrift stores started after moving to Minot. This contributed to his most recent hobby of collecting cookie jars, proudly displaying 1000+ of them throughout their home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois; children; Tammi Berg, Michael (Constance) Eckert, Jodi (Dave) Stoppler and Steven (Virginia) Eckert; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Tracy and Dorothy and his sister, Betty Fugere. Source Springan Funeral Home
