"Dick" Jorgensen, 19, Garner, Iowa was killed in a two- vehicle crash about 3:20 p.m. Friday at the junction of Highway 18 and Highway 69, west of Garner. Jorgensen was driving a west-bound feed truck which was in a collision with a northbound car driven by Frank Meier, 79, Elma, Iowa. The Iowa Highway Patrol said Meier stopped his car on the gravel road and then pulled into the path of the westbound truck. The truck driver, the patrol said, attempted to swerve but hit the rear of the car. The truck went onto its left side and slid across the intersection striking and shearing off a steel light pole, said the patrol. The pole crushed the cab of the truck, killing Jorgensen, said the patrol. Meier suffered cuts on his head and hand. He was taken to the hospital in Britt where he is in good condition. The mishap is still under investigation, said the patrol. Jorgensen was an emplye of the Felco Feed Co. Survivors include his wife and infant son, parents, a brother and sister. Services Held For Richard "Dick" Jorgensen Monday, February 9; Accident Victim Garner, Iowa- Mr. Jorgensen was killed Friday in a car - truck crash at the junction of Highway 18 and Highway 69, west of Garner, on Friday, February 6, 1970. Funeral services for Richard L. Jorgensen, 19, were held Monday, Feb. 9 at Zion United Church of Christ. The Rev Leroy E. Franz officiated. The Rev. Franz used as his text, Mark 15:34, and comfort in music was supplied by the duet composed of Mrs. Dale Greiman and Mrs Gordon Upmeyer, The hymns used were; "Son od My Soul", and "My Jesus As Thou Wilt". The organist was Mrs. H. G. Voetberg. Pallbearers were Gregory Peck, George Riekens, Jr., Roger Gatchel, Douglas Lewerke, Dean Lewerke, Peter Gouge, James Bakken, and Ronald C. Tannahill. Dick was laid to rest in the Concord Cemetery with Bohn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Dick was the son of Ralph and Violet (Peck) Jorgensen, Garner, and born October 29, 1950. He had reached the age of 19 years, three months and eleven days at the time of his death. Survivors are his wife, Jaclyne, and infant son, Travis Lee, his parents, Ralph and Violet (Peck) Jorgensen, Garner, a brother, James, a sister Rhonda Jean, his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Laura Jorgensen, all of Garner, Iowa; and a maternal grandfather, William Peck of Clear Lake, Iowa
