Read More	Foster, Richard Lewis, Jr of Lemmon, SD son of Richard L. and Adele Clark Foster, was born March 16, 1893, at Rich Hil, Mo, and passed away after a lingering illness of one year at Omaha, Neb, on Nov 7, 1961, at the age of 68 years, seven months and 21 days. Mr Foster graduated from high school at New Market, Ia, attended Western Normal College in Shenandoah and the Highland Park College in Des Moines, and graduated with a civil engineering degree from the South Dakota State School of Mines at Rapid City, S D. Mr Foster received many honors as a bridge designer. He displayed much interest and talent in the fields of mathematics and music. He was a member of the college male quartet at the state school of mines. For many years he had been a prominent cattle and sheep rancher near Lemmon, S D., and was a world traveler. His hobby in recent years was photography and he had taken many moving pictures during his travels. Mr Foster was a World War I veteran, and received his officer's training at Camp Taylor, Louisville, Ky. He was a member of the American Legion, the Mason Order at Bison, S.D., a Member of the Methodist Church, having joined at an early age. Memorial services were conducted from the Walker Funeral Chapel in Clarinda, Ia, Saturday, Nov 11, 1961, at 2:30 pm, with the Rev Gerald Rosenberger officiating. Mrs Willard Carlson, soloist, sang "Face to Face" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", with Miss Aletha Hutchings at the organ. Mrs Perry Sampson was in charge of the memory book. Hostesses were Mrs E.M. Barton and Mrs Paul Lyden. In charge of the flowers were Mrs Jack Kil, Mrs Leo Strumer and Mrs Glenn Beach. Casket bearers were Arthur Wainwright, Bill Zenor, -- Seim, William Mackey, Randy Foster and Don Bockman, three of whom were employed by Mr Foster on his ranch. Masonic and military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion Post from Shenandoah with Calvin Luther as worshipful master. Surviving Mr Foster are his sister, Mrs Helen J. Clark of Shenandoah, a number of cousins and a great host of friends. Interment was in the Old Memory Cemetery. Relatives and friends who attended coming from a distance, included Mr and Mrs Claude Foster, Mr and Mrs Randy Roster, Mr and Mrs Shelby Seim, Mr and Mrs Don Bockman, William Mackey, Ton Nizom, Cecil Hendrik, John Hartman, Melvin Spencer, Horace Seim and Neal Crowley all of South Dakota, Mr and Mrs Bill Zenor and Mrs Martha Abrahamson of Red Oak, Ia, Mr and Mrs Roy Lundberg and Dale, D.C.
