Description	:	Richard Lozier Brown, 74, of Pateros, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, in Central Washington Hospital at Wenatchee of a heart attack, ending his battle with lung cancer early. He was born Jan. 14, 1922, the son of Leon V. and Florence (Shepherd) Brown at Opportunity, Wash. He moved with his family to the Wenatchee Valley where he attended school in the Dryden and Sunnyslope areas, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1940. He joined the National Guard while in high school and in February of 1941 was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving until his discharge in 1945. In 1961 he married Sharon Whitley in Wenatchee. Mr. Brown was involved with the fruit industry in the valley as an orchard owner and fruit buyer. In 1966 the family moved to Manson where he managed the Canyon Ranch, then moving to Brewster in 1972 where he managed the B&K Orchards until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, at the home; four sons, Richard Jr. of Wenatchee, Barry of Seattle, Geoffrey of Lancaster, Calif., and Stephen of Wenatchee; five daughters, Cheryl Richard of Sugar Grove, W.Va., Diane Snyder of Spokane, Becky Lillard of Boise, Idaho, Tracy Bloomer of Elko, Nev., and Cayme Etzel of Yakima; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Holland of Wenatchee; and his special mother-in-law, Frances Whitley of Wenatchee. His daughter, Kelly McIntyre of Sedro Woolley, was fatally injured in a car accident while en route to join her family. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two sisters, Beverly Brown and Lois Harris. At his request there will be no services. His family will join together in a celebration of his life at a later time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
