Huffmaster Mr. Richard Huffmaster at his home in Springdale, Ark., peacefully fell asleep in Jesus at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 1899, after a severe illness of nearly two weeks. The deceased was born in Rogersville, Hawkins county, Tenn., April 23, 1820, being therefore in the seventy ninth year of his age. In 1870, after having spent about four years in the state of Mo., he came with his family to his place, where he made many friends and continued to live during the remaining years of his life. Mr. Huffmaster united with the Presbyterian church early in life, and in 1882, at the organization of the Springdale Presbyterian church, was elected and ordained to the office of deacon, and in 1888 to the office of ruling elder, in which capacity he faithfully served until his death. When health permitted, he was regular in his attendance upon all the services of the church, and otherwise manifested a sincere interest in its welfare. Mr. Huffmaster was a good man, and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. During his last sickness, as long as at all rational, he was submissive, gentle and patient. When death came it had no terrors for him: "Twas but the voice Jesus sends To call him to his arms." Funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian church by the pastor, after which he was laid to rest in Bluff cemetery. He leaves two sons and five daughters, also one brother and four sisters, of whom Mrs. John Philips of this city is the youngest, his beloved companion and helpmate having long since gone before. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing ones, and commend them to the rich, tender and sufficient grace of God. J.E.W.
