Taylor New Germany, Feb. 3 - It was with deep regret that the people of New Germany and district learned of the passing of Richard R. Taylor, manager of the New Germany Fruit Co., whose death occurred at his home here on Saturday evening, Jan. 29, at the early age of 33 years. While not in good health for some time, the seriousness of his condition was not generally known until two weeks ago when he was forced to give up work. His early passing removes a good citizen, one who will be greatly missed not only by his family but by a wide circle of friends. When quite young, Mr. Taylor entered the employ of the Royal Bank of Canada at its New Germany branch and remained there until the death of his father, the late Ralph Taylor of Farmington, when he returned home to carry on the work of the farm. About four years ago he was forced to give up this strenuous work and he accepted the management of the New Germany Fruit Co., a position he held until his passing. He had been active in community activities, having been a member of the New Germany District Board of Trade, Pine Grove Lodge No. 111, Past District Deputy Grand Master of District No. 9, I.O.O.F., past member of the Lunenburg Co. Farmers' Association. As a member of Barss Corners Baptist church he served as a trustee as well as a member of the finance committee. The late Mr. Taylor was born in Farmington 33 years ago, youngest son of Mrs. Miriam Webber Taylor and the late Ralph Taylor. Surviving are his wife, the former Beatrice Slauenwhite, a son, Douglas, 3 1/2 years of age, his mother, one sister, and two brothers, Prudence, Mrs. Wallace Langille, of Athol, Mass., R. McLearn Taylor, and Caleb Taylor, both of Barss Corners. The funeral services were held at the United church, New Germany, on Monday afternoon, Jan. 31, and was one of the largest held here for some time. Rev. P.M. Hamilton, pastor of the Baptist church, preached a comforting sermon. Rev. S. G. MacQueen of the United church, and Rev. W.R. Martell, of the Church of England, assisted in the service.
