Read More	TUCSON, Ariz. — Richard T. “Dick” Rogers Jr., 90, of Green Valley, formerly of Gibbon, Neb., died Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, in Tucson. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney, Neb., with the Rev. Art Faesser of St. James Catholic Church officiating. Private burial of ashes will be at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. Richard was born March 22, 1928, in Lincoln, Neb., to Richard T. and Naomi W. (DeVilbiss) Rogers. He attended country school District 25 through eighth grade and Longfellow High School in Kearney where he graduated in 1945 as class valedictorian. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for three years on a regents scholarship. On Aug. 29, 1948, he married JoAnn Seidel at Seward. Neb. The couple lived near Gibbon and farmed northwest of Gibbon for many years. His wife died in 1993. He retired and moved to Green Valley in 2008. He was a member of Kearney Elks Lodge for 65 years, was one of the founders of Kearney State Bank (now Farmers and Merchants Bank) and served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Gibbon School Board, Central Nebraska Co-op Board, past president of Pork Producers and was very involved in the introduction of the pork checkoff. He enjoyed golf, reading, walking and taking care of his house and yard in Green Valley. He also volunteered at the Lions Club paper recycling facility. Surviving relatives include daughters, Laurie Sayer of Kearney, Lisa Huff and husband Marty of Lincoln and Holly Grady of Denver; son, Steve Rogers and wife Dorothy of Kearney; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Susan Reiber of Minnesota.
