Description	:	Richard Theophil Litterer, age 78, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Theophil and Elsie (Witt) Litterer on October 19, 1940, at home in rural Plainfield, Iowa. Richard was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Hill Church in rural Butler County and attended country school near his home. Read More	Richard Theophil Litterer, age 78, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Theophil and Elsie (Witt) Litterer on October 19, 1940, at home in rural Plainfield, Iowa. Richard was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Hill Church in rural Butler County and attended country school near his home. On June 15, 1962, Richard was united in marriage with Ida Mae Kruse at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. After their marriage, Richard and Ida lived in Waverly and Richard worked at Waterloo Concrete Company. Later they moved to Clarksville and Richard worked at Shield-Bantam Crane Company in Waverly as a machinist. Richard was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville where he served as a deacon and enjoyed playing on the church’s dart ball team. Richard enjoyed tinkering, helping others fix their repair issues and helping his brother, Bob on the farm. He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes, gardening and fishing. Some of his greatest joys were fishing trips with his brothers and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their activities. Richard died Sunday, November 18, 2018, at his home in Waverly. Richard is preceded in death by one infant son, Steven Richard Litterer; his son-in-law, Rodney Dreesman; his parents; three brothers, Ralph, Lawrence and Wilbur Litterer; and two sisters, Ruth Fisher and Hulda Fisher. Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ida of Waverly; four children, Lisa Dreesman of Carroll, Iowa, Kevin (Beth) Litterer of Lake View, Iowa, Christopher Litterer of Clarksville and Eric (Tammy) Litterer of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Steven (special friend, Megan), Nolan, Grace, Lauren and Addison; four brothers, Arnold of Marble Rock, Robert (Sherry) of Clarksville, Paul (Mary) of Bremer, Iowa, and Roger (Peggy) of Clarksville; two sisters, Shirley (Dave) Rottink of Clarksville and Margret (Carl) Horengic of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; three sisters-in-law, Ardys Litterer of Greene, Iowa, Annetta Litterer and Marjorie Litterer, both of Waverly. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2018, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
