Description	:	Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Wagler funeral home in Elliott for Richard Warren Corbin, 84, who died Monday at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. The Rev. Ernest McAnioch had charge of the service and Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Sellby of Elliott sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Dell Kipp, also of Elliott. The pallbearers were nephews, George B. Corbin, son of Ben and Susan Corbin, was born January 1, 1856 at Newcomers Town, Ohio. His death resulted from a hernia operation performed last Tuesday. In his early twenties he came to Iowa and settled on a farm 1 1/2 miles southwest of Grant, where he lived until his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice White on December 3, 1879 and to this union nine children were born, five of them preceding him in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Allen Smith, Tarkio, Missouri, Mrs. Glade Flatt, Griswold, and Mrs. Ernest Long and Albert Corbin, Grant. His wife preceded him in death on March 9, 1937 He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one brother, J. W. Corbin of Stafford, Missouri. Villisca Review, Thursday, September 19, 1940, page 5 Richard Warren Corbin, son of Joseph Benjamin Corbin and Lida Susannah Deeds, was born January 1, 1856 in Coshocton, Ohio and died September 16, 1940 in Grant, Montgomery County, Iowa at the age of 84. He married Alice White. After the death of his father during the Civil War, John went to Ohio with his mother and brothers, where they lived with grandfather Abraham Deeds. At the time of the 1870 census, John was living with his mother and her second husband, John Snell. Family tradition says that John stayed with the Deeds (his grandfather) family when Susana and John Snell went to Missouri. John Wesley was still quite young when Abram and Rich went to Missouri, but they took him with them. John came to Iowa with his brothers in 1877, and in 1880 was a farm laborer in the Sidney Botts household. In 1881, John joined his brothers in the purchase of the farm on the Seven Mile River. After John and Olive were married they lived in a small house on the ten-acre tract on the south side of the farm. Apparently Abram and Rich gave their shares of that land to John, although no such deed has been found. In 1897, Rich and John bought land south of Grant. John bought a house and moved it onto the farm. In 1898, John became sole owner, and the family lived there until 1915, when the place was sold. After John's second marriage, his wife, Lou Heavin Beller, was in poor health (she had cancer). They thought a change of climate might help, so they moved to Weslaco, Texas. They lived there during World War I. 23 March, 1918: Villisca Review - Mrs. John Corbin (Amanda Lou Heavin Beller) and children left Tuesday for McAllen, Texas, where they will make their future home. Mr. Corbin left sometime before to make the trip in his automobile. John moved to Corning, Arkansas, about 1920. In 1922, they went to Willow Springs, Missouri. Lou died there in June, 1928, and John married Clara Brisley. Soon after, they moved to Strafford, Missouri. John's Uncle Conaway Corbin left him a 25 acre farm, and they lived there until Clara suffered a stroke in 1946. They sold the farm, and went to John's daughter, Grace, in Corning, Iowas. Clara was unhappy there, and insisted on going to relatives at Sedalia, Missouri. John went to Oregon, and stayed with his son, Dean, for about three years. He returned to Corning, Iowa, where he died.
