Morris, 78, of Red Oak resident of this vicinity since 1879 except for the last three years, died Thursday of last week at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after he was taken there Tuesday of last week from the county home at Red Oak where he had been taken after injuring his head on the pavement with he fell Monday of last week near the Mills County Home while he was on his way to visit with relatives in Omaha. Morris, 78, of Red Oak resident of this vicinity since 1879 except for the last three years, died Thursday of last week at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after he was taken there Tuesday of last week from the county home at Red Oak where he had been taken after injuring his head on the pavement with he fell Monday of last week near the Mills County Home while he was on his way to visit with relatives in Omaha. Mr. Morris fractured his skull when his head hit the pavement. He was born August 3, 1858, son of David Morris and Annie Daniels Morris of Kewanee, Illinois and came to Iowa in 1879 settling near Sciola where two years later December 21, 1881, he married Heppa A. Bolt of Sciola. He was preceded in death by his wife last October and one son, Park A., who died 12 years ago. He is survived by one son, Frank of Omaha, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Relatives near Villisca who survive Mrs. Morris are his brothers-in-law Ed Bolt, J. M. Bolt, and Fred Bolt, and o ne sister-in-law, Mrs. August Jacobson. Mr. Morris body was brought Thursday of last week to the Wolfe Funeral Chapel in Villisca where it remained until the funeral services held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. W. F. Clayburg. The music was by the Misses Margaret Lindell and Margaret Clayburg, accompanied on the piano by Miss Miriam Kimball and the pall bearers were W. E. Figgins, S. B. Edwards, C. P. VanValkenburg, S. P. Moore, Roy Bowman, and H. E. Wending, all of Villisca. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Villisca Review, Villisca, Iowa, Friday, July 16, 1937, page 1
