Description	:	AUGUSTA - Rita DeRosby, 77, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, on Oct. 18, 2015, with her loving family by her bedside in Augusta. Her final days were spent with family and friends, joining together to celebrate Rita, and the profound influence she had on their lives. Rita, one of 12 children, was born in St. Agatha, on April 30, 1938, to Michael and Aurore Albert. Her final days were spent with family and friends, joining together to celebrate Rita, and the profound influence she had on their lives. Rita, one of 12 children, was born in St. Agatha, on April 30, 1938, to Michael and Aurore Albert. Rita married Richard DeRosby on June 29, 1957, and their lives were built around nurturing and raising her four children. She retired from Keyes Fiber Company after 39 years. Her favorite memories were spent enjoying their home on Snow Pond in Oakland. She was known for her strength and encouragement. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening and had a love for politics. Rita made no apologies for her beliefs. She was known for her unconditional love and support. Her infectious laugh and her beautiful smile could bring joy to anyone. Rita was a survivor. She was a medical miracle and beat all odds. After being diagnosed with Scleroderma in 1995, Rita spent the next 20 years on medical studies in hopes of helping find a cure for those affected with the disease. Although Rita knew that she could not be cured, she did everything in her power to save another person from enduring this illness. She spent the last eight years of her life residing with her daughter First Lady Ann LePage and son-in-law Governor Paul LePage. Over the past five years, some of Rita's best memories were spent surrounded by a loving Blaine House staff, and elite members of the Maine State Police, that she came to think of as family. Rita is survived by her siblings, Fern Albert, Renaud Albert, Theresa Raymond, and Jackie Bard; four children and their spouses, Ann and Paul LePage, Kim and Jody LeDoux, Tammy and Greg Brown, and Paul and Carolyn DeRosby; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, Lucien, Cyrille, Roland, Patrick, Guy, Francois, and Gerard. A celebration of life will be held at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Waterville at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23. (Kennebec Journal 10/21/15)
