Description	:	MATHEWS - Rita Ann L’Heureux Cannon of Cobbs Creek passed away at home on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002. She was a member of Church of St. Therese, Gloucester, Va., and one of the founders of the church’s Theresian’s Society. Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her husband, L. Bernard Cannon Jr., and a daughter, Rita A. Thomas. Survivors include her daughters, Ruth Ann Hutson of Mathews, Rachel Dukes of Cobbs Creek, Regina Brown of Gloucester; a son, L.B. Cannon III of Cobbs Creek; a son-in-law, John W. Thomas Jr. of Mathews. 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive. Rita... Cannon III of Cobbs Creek; a son-in-law, John W. Thomas Jr. of Mathews. 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive. Rita was born July 23, 1922 in Salem, Mass. The first born of 16 children to the late Donat and Alice L’Heureux. Brothers who predeceased her were Joseph, Lucien, Robert, Roland, Andre, Arthur and Roger. Two sisters, Marie Jacqueline L’Heureux, Therese Churchill, and stepmother, Marie Anna L’Heureux, also preceded her in death. Surviving siblings are Doris Angeline of Fairfax, Va., Jacqueline Mills of Md., Pauline Roy of Danvas, Mass., Lorraine Turmene of Peabody, Mass., Lucille Stewart and a brother Gerard L’Heureux, both of Salem, Mass. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002 at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 9:30 a.m. on Monday at Church of St. Therese, Gloucester. Burial will follow in the Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, is in charge of these arrangements.
