Read More	Mrs. Rita Gail Hurst McHone was born on July 6, 1949 in Surry County to the late Marion Hurst and Nellie Gates Hurst. She departed this earth to reside in Heaven on March 20, 2022. Rita attended Surry County schools and retired from Brown Wooten Mills in Mount Airy, NC. She has been described as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. When her husband was living, they enjoyed going to the beach together, she continued going to the beach with her family and friends. She was a proud member of Southside Baptist Church in Mount Airy, NC. Rita was also known for angelic spirit and highly compassionate heart. Although relatively shy in nature. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Royce McHone, two daughters Reginia Wilson and Ronda McHone. Rita's legacy will be remembered by her daughter Julia Pack of Mount Airy, NC; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Pixie Gunnell (Nick) of Mount Airy, NC, Sybil Whitaker (Ted) of Winston Salem, NC; 2 brothers Phil Hurst (Diane) of Asheville, NC and Glen Haynes of Asheville, NC, sister-in-law Gaye McHone (Ricky) and Junior McHone (Susan) all of Mount Airy, NC and a plethora of other cousins and friends. A viewing will be held from 2:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Spencer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Spencer Funeral Home, Mount Airy, NC. Family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Southside Baptist Church Cemetery, Mount Airy, NC. Pastor Butch Holder will be the eulogist. Services are entrusted to Spencer Funeral Home.
