Description	:	Robert Archibald Norton, Sr., second child and only son of Samuel Archibald and Martha Caroline Myers Norton, was born November 22, 1896, in Scotland County, Missouri and departed this life June 13, 1983, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 22 days. He was born on a farm near Greensburg where he spent most of his life. He was united in marriage to Maude Inez Corwin, August 23, 1917, who preceded him in death August 27, 1980. To this union five children were born: June Farris, St. Charles, Missouri, Gilbert Dale, St. Joseph, Missouri, Jewell Brown, Memphis, Missouri, Donald, Baring, Missouri, and Robert A., Jr., Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He is also survived by one sister, Maggie Martin, Marion, Iowa: 22 grandchildren: 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Cooper, one son-in-law, Neale Farris, one grandchild, and three great-grandchildren. Rob as he was commonly known, was a farmer and rural letter carrier. He became a member of the Church of Christ at Bible Grove at an early age and remained a faithful and active member as long as his health permitted. His final several months were spent at the Scotland County Nursing Home where he passed away. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 16, 1983, at the Church of Christ at Bible Grove, with Les Hinkle officiating. Vocalists were Guy Gardine and Kenneth Campbell. Body bearers were grandsons. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements were by Payne-Gerth Funeral Home, Memphis, Missouri.
