He was born in New Castle, Indiana on April 20, 1925 to Elliot and Eva (Case) Minnick. After graduating from Alliance High School in 1943, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, 3rd Tank Battalion, during World War II. He was born in New Castle, Indiana on April 20, 1925 to Elliot and Eva (Case) Minnick. After graduating from Alliance High School in 1943, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, 3rd Tank Battalion, during World War II. On December 7, 1947, he married the love of his life, Idonna Marie Tolstedt. They moved to the family farm in the spring of 1949. Bob began employment as a salesman with Alliance Tractor and Implement in 1966 and continued working for 38 years until his retirement in 2004.Bob was an active member of the community throughout his life in many ways: past member of the Nebraska Educational TV Commission, chairman of the Box Butte County Extension Board, former 4-H leader and president of the Box Butte 4-H council. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Boys’ Ranch, a trustee and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, exalted ruler of the Alliance Elks’ Club, and a member of the American Legion, VFW, and 3rd Marine Division Association. Another honor bestowed upon him was the Senior Citizen Big A Booster in 1993-1994. Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He actively took part in their lives until his death. He was a hero to all who knew and loved him not just for his undying devotion to his nation and community, but also for the undeniable example of love and support he showed his family throughout his life.He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers, Jack and Kenneth Minnick.Funeral services will be held July 8 at at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Alliance Cemetery with military honors.
