Ferrell was born in Buchanan county, Missouri, February 18, 1853 and died at his home, near Valley Falls, Kansas, February 12, 1918, aged 64 years, 11 months and 24 days. He, with his parents moved to Kansas, when but a mere boy of four years, to his fathers homestead in Jackson county, Kansas where his brother Isaac now lives and where Robert grew to manhood. Ferrell was born in Buchanan county, Missouri, February 18, 1853 and died at his home, near Valley Falls, Kansas, February 12, 1918, aged 64 years, 11 months and 24 days. He, with his parents moved to Kansas, when but a mere boy of four years, to his fathers homestead in Jackson county, Kansas where his brother Isaac now lives and where Robert grew to manhood. He was a member of the M. E. Church and also a member of the Masonic Lodge. On March 10, 1872 he was married to Mary C. Tosh. To this union were born five children: two sons and three daughters. Two daughters, Laura, aged seven years, and Ludie, aged four, have preceded him. The deceased leaves a wife, two sons, viz: W. I. and James A. Ferrell both of Valley Falls, one daughter, Josie M. Carpenter of Mayetta, Kansas, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one brother, Isaac Ferrell of Denison, Kansas and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Marsh of Valley Falls, Mrs. Hixey McGee of Topeka, and Mrs. B. W. Fleischer, of Seattle, Washington; besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. In may, 1878, he, with his wife, moved to Jefferson county, Kansas settling on the farm in Swabville neighborhood six miles northwest of Valley Falls where he resided until death called him. Uncle Bob, as he was familiarly called was loved and cherished by all who knew willing to help in any good cause. In early manhood he proved himself to be an industrious, painstaking farmer and stockman, and handled his business affairs very successfully. The deceased has had several misfortunes in health but none ever proved to be so serious as this time, when he was sick only nine days with pneumonia. He was a good neighbor, father and husband; he was kind to the point of indulgence. He will be missed, greatly missed by "his own." and he will be missed by his neighbors.
