Description	:	Robert (Bob) Cecil Johnson, who was born on his family farm southeast of Lucas, SD, passed away at the age of 84. Bob had been hospitalized in Mitchell, Sioux Falls and Gregory since July 17, 2015, with serious health issues and underwent many surgeries prior to his death at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Bob never married but put his heart into the family farm. Bob was always willing to help anyone, and was a great neighbor to many. Read More	Robert (Bob) Cecil Johnson, who was born on his family farm southeast of Lucas, SD, passed away at the age of 84. Bob had been hospitalized in Mitchell, Sioux Falls and Gregory since July 17, 2015, with serious health issues and underwent many surgeries prior to his death at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Bob never married but put his heart into the family farm. Bob was always willing to help anyone, and was a great neighbor to many. He traveled to many states and visited his brother, Almon, in TN many times. He enjoyed many friends and family over the years and especially enjoyed their hospital visits during his last few months. He was the youngest of nine children born to Charles and Olive (Fish) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm and attended schools in the Lucas area. On November 13, 1952, at the age of 20, he enlisted in the Army at Ft. Campbell, KY. During the next two years, Bob was stationed at several military bases. Pvt. Johnson completed an Airborne course at Fort Benning, GA, and was also stationed at Fort Lee, VA. Bob received several medals and badges during this time. He was honorably discharged on November 12, 1954 and returned home to work with his father and mother. When his father passed away on February 11, 1966, he took over the family farm. His biggest passion was his Hereford cattle and horses. He enjoyed attending many cattle sales, bull sales and rodeos all around the region. For many years each fall, Bob hosted cowboys from Minnesota making life-long friends. He loved horses. After retiring from the farm and moving to a home near Gregory, SD with his horses, he started building horse-drawn wagons. It was a hobby that he enjoyed greatly and loved entering them in local parades and giving rides. Bob is survived by a brother, George Leroy (b.21-Jan-1922) of Gregory, SD, and three sisters, Marjorie Marie Swift (b.29-Jan-1924) of Philip, SD, Olive Irene Pine (b.25-Dec-1928) of Torrance, CA, Luella Mae Frey (b.18-Oct-1930) of Moscow, ID; one brother-in-law, Walt Frey of Moscow, ID, and one sister-in-law, Mildred Johnson of Burke, SD. He is also survived by 32 nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charles Leslie (b.21-Feb-1917, d.3-Sep-1989), Almon Lovell (b.26-Aug-1920), and Harold Raymond (b.1-Jun-1927), and one sister, Millie Lucille Osnes (b.21-Feb-1919); four brother-in laws, John Osnes, Calvin Swift, George Turgeon, Patrick Pine; two sister-in laws, Floy Johnson and Vyrle Johnson; six nephews, Ronnie Johnson, Gene Johnson, Charles Osnes, Mike Johnson, Richard Swift, and Danny Frey.
