A memorial has been established for the Lone Tree First Responders, the Lone Tree Library and the United Presbyterian Church roof fund. Mr. Petsel was born December 18, 1920, in Ainsworth, the son of Albert T. and Bessie N. (Soukup) Petsel. He married Ruth E. Mills July 20, 1948, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She preceded him in death in 1992. He was a life resident of the Lone Tree area and a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, served on the Lone Tree Town Council and was on the Board of Directors of the Lone Tree Health Care Center and also on the Board of Directors of the East Side Village. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving in the South Pacific during World War II, 1942-1945. After returning to Lone Tree he owned and operated Bob's DX, 1946-1974. Survivors include a son, J. B. Petsel and wife Kaye of Lone Tree; a brother, Albert T. Petsel of Atlanta, Ga; a sister, Viola L. Winders of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Alex and Nick Petsel; and a special friend, Lucille Sojka of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Lloyd and DeWayne Petsel.
