Lois Woodrow ---------- Robert Muir Passed Away Monday Evening Death came to Robert Muir as he sat in his chair at his home early Monday evening, Jan. 6, 1947. Due to his failing strength, his children had been summoned together, and with his wife, were with him at the end. Robert Craig Muir was born April 3, 1867. at Lonaconing, Md. His parents, John and Mary (Craig) Muir, had come to America from Scotland a few years before his birth. His boyhood years and early adult life was spent in Maryland, and Fayette County, Pa., where his parents farmed. When he was about 21 years of age, he came to southern Iowa to visit relatives and was employed there a short time before going to Rock Springs, Wyoming, in 1889, to begin work in the coal mines at that place. On December 30, 1909, he was married to Grace Gadd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gadd, who were then farming near Corning, Iowa. Ten years later, Mr. and Mrs. Muir and their two children, Don and Effie, came to Spirit Lake to make their home, in order that Mrs. Muir might be of help and comfort to her aged parents, who had moved here from Corning a few years earlier. Had he lived until April 3 next, he would have been 80 years of age. Mr. Muir was fond and proud of his children and his grandchildren; they are Donald Muir, his wife, Lois, and their two daughters, Sinda Kay and Donna Joline, of Oakland, Iowa; and Effie Christensen and husband, Earl, and their son, Donnie, of Arnolds Park, Iowa. The son and daughter and their families were all here when the end came. Other survivors include his wife, a brother, David Muir of Rock Springs, Wyo., and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Atkinson of Lonaconing, Md. He leaves also a number of nephews and nieces. He was a charter member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Rock Springs, Wyo. Robert Muir was a loving husband and father, a kind neighbor and a good friend. Many will miss him and will remember his kindness and helpfulness for a long time to come. The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Donovan Funeral Home. conducted by Rev. R. E.
