Lee, 87, of LaGrange, IN and formerly of Van Buren Township, LaGrange County died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor in LaGrange, IN. Mr. Lee was born on March 20, 1925 in Van Buren Township, LaGrange County to Robert E., Sr. and Fern E. (Diley) Lee. They preceded him in death. Living his lifetime in LaGrange and Elkhart Counties, he graduated from Scott High School in 1943 and from Purdue University in 1951 in Ag Education. Mr. Lee was the former owner and operator of the dairy farm, Bob-O-Lou Farms, Inc. in Van Buren Township and the former owner and operator of Maple Lanes Bowling Alley in LaGrange, IN. Mr. Lee was a former LaGrange County Commissioner, Van Buren Township Trustee, member of the Westview School Board, President of the Board of Directors of the LaGrange County Farm Bureau Co-Op, and member of the Board of Trustees of the LaGrange County Hospital. He was member and former chairman of trustees at Scott United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the George Washington Masonic Lodge #325 in Bristol, IN, and a member Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, IN. He was also former chairman of Ag Extension Committee, former chairman of LaGrange County Purdue Ags, former member of LaGrange County Council on Aging, member of Shipshewana Lions Club, and was an original board member of the LaGrange County Community Foundation. On August 19, 1950 in Scott, IN he married Martha Lou Bassett; Mrs. Lee survives in LaGrange, IN. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Michael Bachmann of Richmond, VA and Colleen and Ronald Hostetler of Topeka, IN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Deb Lee of Middlebury, IN and Byron and Susie Lee of Shipshewana, IN; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Smith of Elkhart, IN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at Scott United Methodist Church, 7020 N – 675 W, Shipshewana, IN with Rev. Jeffrey Stedge officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury, IN. Visitation will be on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 2-7:30 pm at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN with a masonic service at 7:30 pm by the George Washington Masonic Lodge. Memorials may be given to either Westview Dollars for Scholars or LaGrange County Community Foundation.
