The son of the late Gerhard and Hulda Sandhorst, he was born June 4, 1922, in Wiota and was graduate of Atlantic High School. He was married April 5, 1942, to Virginia Offenstine and had lived in Atlantic prior to moving to Omaha 50 years ago. He was retired from Swift & Company, holding the position of sales manager of the fresh meat division. He retired in 1984. Mr. Sandhorst was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha. Surviving are his wife: a daughter, Barbara Wickman of Omaha; two sons, Bruce of Lincoln, Neb., and Barry of West Lynn, Ore.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Sandhorst of Urbandale. A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Evergreen Memorial Park in Omaha. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 5151 NW Radial Highway in Omaha. The Boyd E. Braman Mortuary, 1702 North Seventy-Second Street, Omaha, is in charge of arrangements.
