Description	:	Robert “Bob” Less, 87, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. with Reverend Dr. Jean Ziettlow officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Johnson Township, rural Merrill, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Robert Edward Less was born June 7, 1927 on the family farm near Ponca, Nebraska to Fred and Julia (Bergstrasser) Less. Bob was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca. He began his education in Ponca and the family later moved to a farm near Le Mars, Iowa and Bob attended Le Mars Central High School graduating in 1944. Bob was united in marriage to Bernice Ohlrichs on August 19, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Johnson Township, rural Merrill, Iowa. The couple farmed for 40 years in Johnson Township, retiring in 1989 and moved to Le Mars. Bob had been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, having served on the church council for several years. Upon retirement and moving to Le Mars, Bob and Bernice joined St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. In his retirement years, Bob enjoyed helping on the farm and creating stained glass creations and woodworking. Bob and Bernice travel extensively throughout the United States with their 5thwheel trailer having been in nearly every state. They enjoyed spending several winters in the southern states, particularly southern Texas. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bernice of Le Mars; four children: Kenneth Less and his wife Karla of Merrill, Rick Less and his wife Sandy of Swisher, IA, Keith Less and his wife Gwen of Coralville, and Lori Pedrick and her husband Doug of Slinger, WI; nine grandchildren: Dena (Randy) Bridgford, Andrew (Mandy) Less, Mitchell (Liz) Less, Zach (Morgan) Less, Mark Less, Eric Less, Benjamin Pedrick, Katrina Pedrick, and Anna Pedrick; 8 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Don and Ruth Ohlrichs of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Julia (Bergstrasser) Less; a son Alan Less in infancy; his siblings: Hildegard (John) Ehmke, Frieda (Roy T.) Jones, Dorothea Less, Theodore (Wilma) Less, Gerhardt (Virginia) Less, and Lucille (Larry) Gilbert; and in-laws: Helen and Walter Johnson and Leonard and Dorothy Dirks.
