Artois, California August 18, 1912 D. Chico, California October 9, 1996 Mr. Mudd was born in the Cherokee District near Artois, August 18, 1912, the son of Robert and Neva Mudd. His paternal grandfather was William Mudd who came to California by ox team with his brother George. In 1870 he settled on a 5,000 acre wheat ranch east of Germantown (Artois). On April 26, 1935, Rober [sic] Mudd married Sally Harding. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Union, #442. He worked as an electricizn [sic] on the construction of the Shasta, Oroville and Black Butte Dams. He joined the Orland Volunteer Fire Department in 1937. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Sally Mudd of Orland; son, Robert Mudd of Santa Clara; and a daughter, Shirley Ceccon of Orland. There are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He and his wife have been members of the Colusi County Historical Association since 1969. Burial was in the Willows Catholic Cemetery. Journal/Press Register - Transcribed by M.
