Description	:	Great Falls —Robert E. Spoonheim, 87, of Malta, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Bob was born on August 22, 1928, in Turner, MT, to Christian W. and Mary H. (Snowball) Spoonheim. He was raised in Turner, attending the Little Jewel Country School until after the 6th grade, at which time he began working for the Van Voast family on their farm. Spoonheim, 87, of Malta, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls. Bob was born on August 22, 1928, in Turner, MT, to Christian W. and Mary H. (Snowball) Spoonheim. He was raised in Turner, attending the Little Jewel Country School until after the 6th grade, at which time he began working for the Van Voast family on their farm. He purchased his first piece of farmland in the late 1950s, and farmed until 1972, when he sold the farm. Bob, being a man of many talents, was also an incredible carpenter, built his first home in Turner in 1956, and continued residential building until his stroke in October of 2015. Bob was well-known for building Post Office buildings, which he began by building the Turner Post Office in the 1960s, and ended by building the new Turner Post Office in 2000. He met Betty Bevis in 1970 while building the post office in Winnet, and the couple remained together until his death. They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life, and that was Bob. He loved woodworking and finish carpentry. Spending time with his family was enjoyed, especially if you were good at shop talk. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Christian and Mary Spoonheim; his siblings, Mabel Cotter, Carl W. Spoonheim, Gladys Tandy, Vilma Nissen, and Melvin Spoonheim; and a few nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brother; his significant other, Betty; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and many, many friends.
