Survivors are: wife, Karen; sons and daughter-in-law, Troy Holloway of Aurora and Stacey and Stephanie Holloway of Phillips; daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Brad Dembowski of Doniphan; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Betty Holloway of Grand Island and Wilbur and Joyce Holloway of Alma; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Melvin Hinrichs of Omaha and Mamie and Jerry Salmon of Geneva and a host of friends and relatives. Robert grew up in the Hamilton County area on a farm south of Aurora, graduating from Aurora High School in 1962. In May 1964, their home was destroyed by a tornado, causing the family to move to town. Robert and Karen lived on a farm by Murphy, then moved to a farm on the Giltner Spur and then to a farm by Phillips, where they developed a large and successful hog operation. Before their hog operation supported them, Bob worked at Red and White Grocery Store, the Phillips 66 Station and Stuckey's. In 1990, they moved into Aurora. Bob had several friends in the law enforcement field, which led him to be one of the first members of the reserve deputies of Hamilton County. He then attended the Law Enforcement Training Center at the age of 45 to become a certified law enforcement officer. He served under Kirk Handrup as his chief deputy for 20 years until his retirement in 2009. Robert was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora, where he served as deacon; a 4-H leader for 25 years, receiving the Alumni Pin; past member of the Hamilton County Fair Board, where he served nine years; past member of the 4-H Council, where he served as president for two terms; past member of the Hamilton County Extension Board; co-sponsored the Canadian 4-H Exchange trip in 1972; member of Hamilton County Pork Producers; past president of the Pork Producers; served as Hamilton County Fair superintendent of FFA and open class, also spent many years judging this competition; founder of the Hamilton County Junior Pork Producers; past member of the advisory committee for Central Nebraska Tech Community College; member of Aurora Jaycees, where he was candidate for Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 1986 and was awarded first runner-up in the state. Robert was one of the first to participate in the Hamilton County Demolition Derby in car No. 11. He used his personal Bobcat to develop the track and clear the cars. He became known as "Buckin' Bob." During his retirement, he enjoyed attending fishing tournaments with his brother Wilbur and camping and fishing with his family.
