Description	:	Robert Dooley died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday morning, December 23, 2002. Bob was born on September 30, 1929 to Roland and Anna Dooley at Russellville, Arkansas, the fourth of six children. Bob spent his early childhood and attended school at Paris, Arkansas. Read More	Robert Dooley died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday morning, December 23, 2002. Bob was born on September 30, 1929 to Roland and Anna Dooley at Russellville, Arkansas, the fourth of six children. Bob spent his early childhood and attended school at Paris, Arkansas. In 1946, at the age of 17, Bob, along with his brother, Arnold, left Arkansas and traveled through California and then to Oroville, WA, where they gained employment at Dwenell Orchards just south of Oroville. On May 19, 1948, Bob joined the Army at Seattle, WA, and served four years until his honorable discharge on April 16, 1952. While in the service, Corporal Dooley participated in five campaigns of the Korean Conflict with the 25th Infantry Division (Lightening), 25th Quarter Master Company as a light vehicle operator. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with five bronze stars and two overseas bars for his service. On June 25, 2000, Bob received the Korean War Medal and a letter of appreciation from President Kim Dae-jung of the Republic of South Korea. Bob was proud of his military service but always quietly declined to discuss the horrors of his combat experience in Korea. After leaving the Army, Bob married Marilyn Baldwin of Oroville and worked for the Okanogan County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy and was a member of the Okanogan Civil Defense Program. Bob and Marilyn made their home in Omak and had two children, Robert and Susan. In 1960, Bob moved to Wenatchee, became a member of the Northwest Laborers Employers Union and gained employment on the construction of Rocky Reach Dam. On October 27, 1961, Bob married Gloria Atkinson of Glendale, California and they later moved to Bridgeport where Bob was employed on the Chief Joseph Dam project. In 1968, Bob and Gloria moved to Coulee City and he continued to work at the Chief Joseph, then Coulee Dam, where he received a disabling injury in 1974. After retiring, Bob and Gloria continued to reside at Coulee City and he enjoyed his hobby of fishing the streams and lakes of the surrounding area. In January 2002, they moved to Wenatchee. He is survived by his wife, Gloria at home; three children, Robert Eugene of Ephrata, Susan Watts of Olympia, and Judy Todd of Colbert, WA; three brothers, R.M. of Subiaco, Arkansas, Arnold of Pendleton, Oregon, and Frank of East Wenatchee; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna; his father, Roland; and two sisters, Alene and Cathy. A private family memorial service is planned.
