Bob is survived by his wife, Betty McBratney, of Conrad; children Bob (Jullie) of Ogden, Utah, Brad (Lisa) of Augusta, Angela Brown (Gary) of Conrad and Gay Johnson (Nathan) of Clinton, Utah, his siblings Mary Samel of Missoula, Betty Styren (Lawrence) of Brady and Donald McBratney (Judy) of Great Falls; his grandchildren Jennifer McBratney of Portland, Ore., Jessica and Amanda Brown of Missoula, and Logan, Chelsea and Ashley Johnson of Clinton, Utah; and eight nieces and nephews. Bob was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Great Falls, to Clifford and Elizabeth McBratney. He attended schools in Great Falls and Belgrade, and graduated from Augusta High School in 1947. He served two years in the Army as a radio operator at Fort Carson, Colo., during the Korean conflict. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Augusta and worked construction for a short while. He then owned and operated the Augusta Service Station until 1965, when he moved to Conrad with his family. He was employed at K's Auto Parts in Conrad until his retirement in 1991. Bob married Betty Spinder on June 19, 1955, at the Community Church in Augusta, Mont. Their marriage was solemnized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in Alberta, Canada, in 1998. Bob was an active member of the Pondera Masonic Lodge No. 80, attaining the level of Past Master AF and AM. He had recently received his 50-year pin. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His latest position in the church was as the executive secretary to the Bishop. Bob's passions included camping, fishing, hunting, playing games with family and friends, and sharing stories around a campfire or a game of dice. He also volunteered for the Conrad City Library, Meals on Wheels and was a campground host for the USDA Forest Service at the Mortimer Gulch campground. People were drawn to Bob because of his warm heart, honesty of character and determination to do things right. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Clifford; his mother, Elizabeth; a brother, Clifford; a niece, Tracie Lee McBratney; and two close brothers-in-law, Sam Samel and Jim Spinder.
