Description	:	Robert "Bob" Francis Bishop, 85, of Lincoln, died peacefully in his sleep at Southlake Village on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Bob was born March 14, 1926 in Columbus, Neb. to Arch Lee and Martha "Mattie" Harriet (Detwiler) Bishop. He was a 1943 graduate of Wheeler County High School. Bob was born March 14, 1926 in Columbus, Neb. to Arch Lee and Martha "Mattie" Harriet (Detwiler) Bishop. He was a 1943 graduate of Wheeler County High School. He attended Wayne State College, Wayne, Neb. and Midland College, Fremont, Neb. Bob was in the United States Marine Corps, Pvt. 1st Class, stationed in the Pacific. He celebrated his 19th birthday on Iwo Jima and took part in the occupation of Japan. He was an Engineer with Nebraska State Department of Water Resources from 1948 to 1991. Bob was married to Rita Doreen Glesinger on September 20, 1948 in Spalding, Neb. He was a member of the North American Martyrs Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. He enjoyed golf, horseshoes, hunting, fishing, leather tooling and had won several awards for golf and horseshoe pitching. Bob is survived by his wife and children, Anne Kathleen (Calvin), Christine Mary (Leitner), Susan Joan (Troudt), Mark Arch Bishop, Eric Robert Bishop and John Michael Bishop; Grandchildren, Rebecca Guerrieri, DJ Calvin, Jeremy and Seth Kamarad, Jasmine Hyatt, Eli and Joseph Leitner, Emily Lorsung, Samuel, Kendra and Kurtis Bishop, Sarah and Rachel Bishop; Great Grandchildren, Lauryn, Mitch and Nicole Guerrieri; David and Trevor Calvin; Madison and Delanie Kamarad, Maxwell and Hudson Hyatt; Noah and Charlie Leitner; Grace, Cole and Claire Kamarad; Raven, Remi and Sadie Leitner; Dora Lorsung. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, William Bishop, Elinor Conway, Dean Bishop, Mary Anne Lund and infant Joan; and his half siblings, Vida Brown, Bertha Tobin, Pearl Larson, Clifford, George, Oliver and Harold Bishop, Genevieve McBride, Infant, Hubert Bishop, Ida Kroeger and Adelia Plugge. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday (9/13/11) at North American Martyrs Catholic Church, 1101 Isaac Dr., Lincoln. Burial will be in Spalding Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Spalding. A Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
